Cambodian PM: Don’t Be Afraid to Invest in Education Sector

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning affirmed that the Royal Government had never regretted its investment in the education sector since Jan. 7, 1979.

Addressing to the inauguration ceremony of two school buildings and the graduation ceremony of over 4,600 students of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, held here at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reconfirmed that education will continue to be a main priority of Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said during his 6,000-kilometre-long trip across the country recently, some US$ 400 million has been spent to invest in the construction of school buildings in Cambodia.

“Please don’t be afraid to invest in the education sector because it can return a biggest output for the development. Education is a main capital for the national development,” he said.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen mocked some people who had learnt in Cambodia and when they had chance to study abroad, they looked down on the education in the Kingdom.

Cambodia has made significant progress in child education. Since 2007, the number of children enrolled in preschool programme has more than doubled.
