Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, together with other ASEAN Leaders, discussed their cooperation in the Plenary Session of the 35th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday afternoon.
H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, chaired the Plenary Session.
The meeting discussed means to build a stronger ASEAN Community that is people-centred, leaves no one behind, and looks to the future.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen and other ASEAN Leaders also exchanged views on the future of ASEAN under the theme Advancing Partnership for Sustainability to enhance sustainability within the region in all dimensions.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Cambodian Premier said ASEAN still has enormous potential to enhance strong economic growth though promotion of internal trade aiming at increasing regional production chains and improving economic productivity.
To achieve this goal, he underlined, it is necessary for ASEAN to focus priority on continued resolution of non-tariff barriers and intensify the trade facilitation efforts which will reduce the trade operational expenses by 10 percent in 2020 and double ASEAN trade by 2025.
