Cambodian NA President Receives Courtesy Call by Delegation of NPC Constitution and Law Committee

A visiting delegation of Constitution and Law Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China paid a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, at the NA Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.

H.E. Li Fei, a Committee's Member and Head of the delegation, informed Samdech Heng Samrin of his visit, the purpose of which is to exchange experience in the area of law affairs, a move to encourage Chinese investors to learn more about Cambodian laws, and thus to invest more in the Kingdom.

Moreover, he briefed the NA president on his Constitution and Law Committee, established in March 2018, adding that Cambodia is the first country visited by the committee's delegation.

For his part, Samdech Heng Samrin considered the visit as a contribution to further strengthening the relations, friendship and cooperation between both nations, especially between the NA and NPC, as well as to share experience in the legislation and law elaboration.

On behalf of NA, Samdech Heng Samrin highly valued and supported China's One Belt, One Road initiative, a global economic project which has played a key role in further boosting socio-economic development of Cambodia.

The NA president also spoke highly of Cambodia-China bilateral trade exchange and of growing Chinese investment in Cambodia in the last couple of years, and informed his guests of Cambodia's new mechanism to facilitate bilateral trade, investment and tourism with China effectively through the use of Yuan, the Chinese currency, in Cambodia's banking system.

Regarding cooperation between both countries' legislative bodies, Samdech Heng Samrin recommended the Chinese side to have in-depth discussion with H.E. Pen Panha, Chairman of NA Commission on Legislation and Justice.
