Cambodia's Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol received here this morning a delegation of China Railway International Group led by Mr. Yu Bingjin, Vice Managing Director for Asia Branch.
According to the ministry's news release, the main aim of the meeting is to discuss the Cambodian railway improvement project.
China Railway International Co., Ltd is a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited (CREC) which has been listed in the Fortune Global 500 and the World's 500 Most Influential Brands, and specialises in developing international business on its behalf. Under the wings of CRI, there are several branches within China and abroad, such as Transtech Engineering Corporation, China Railway Engineering (Hong Kong) Corporation, China Railway Engineering (Malaysia) Corporation.
Currently, Cambodia has two major rail lines: the Southern Line linking Phnom Penh capital to Preah Sihanouk province, and the Northern Line connecting the capital to Poipet city of Banteay Meanchey province, at the border with Thailand.
To further improve railway transportation in Cambodia, a master plan for railway network development has been drafted. Local media unveiled the master plan recently, pointing out that it is the result of the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Korean International Cooperation Agency and engineering and consultation firm named SAMBO Co., Ltd. Based on the master plan, eight sub-rail lines, four high speed and five industrial rail lines, and four ordinary rails would be built in Cambodia.
