Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn held talks here yesterday with visiting H.E. Nobuo Kishi, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
During the meeting, both sides spoke highly of the good ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, said H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
H.E. Nobuo Kishi affirmed that he is ready to work closely with the Cambodian foreign minister to further strengthen and expand the cooperation in all sectors between both countries.
The Government of Japan is planning to invite Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to visit Japan soon and to establish a consulate general in Siem Reap province early next year in response to the growing number of Japanese tourists to Cambodia, he underlined.
For his part, H.E. Prak Sokhonn pledged to bring the invitation to the Cambodian premier and welcomed Japan's decision to create a consulate general in Siem Reap.
The Cambodian top diplomat also expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their support and contribution to the development of Cambodia.
Besides, both sides exchanged views on some regional and international issues of common interest.
