A delegation of the Cambodian Ministry of Environment attended a Workshop on Supporting Marine Debris Reduction in ASEAN Member States held in Bangkok, Thailand on Oct. 29-30., according to the Ministry of Environment.
The two-day event discussed the drafting of a regional action plan on marine debris focusing on policies and plans and the designing of national action plans on marine debris.
The Cambodian delegation led by Mr. Long Rithyrak, a Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Environment, shared with other participants regulations and action plans being carried out by Cambodia to manage solid and liquid waste in towns and at islands in order to contribute to reducing marine debris in the country as well as in the region.
The workshop was chaired by H.E. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand with 60 participants from other ASEAN member countries, ASEAN Secretariat and relevant international organisations.
