Cambodian Commerce Minister: ASEAN Responds Positively to Regional and International Issues

ASEAN has responded positively to regional and international issues, and ensured particularly peace, security, stability, and safety for most people in ASEAN and the world.

The remarks were made by Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodia's ASEAN Economic Minister, while representing Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen at the dinner reception on ASEAN, after 50 Years organised by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) as part of the 14th ASEAN Leadership Forum in Manila, the Philippines last week, according to a news release of the Ministry of Commerce.

As a responsible member in the region, Cambodia was ready to cooperate with relevant parties to achieve ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together on the route of peace, security, stability and long-term prosperity for all people in the region, underlined H.E. Minister.

To achieve the common vision, H.E. Pan Sorasak called for attention from the ASEAN member countries to strengthening and expanding their cooperation, further ensuring economic resilience, balance, sustainability and progress, encouraging the implementation of Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025, and accelerating the decision on Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, and continuing to promote ASEAN excellence for regional cooperation and strengthen ASEAN capacity in solving regional and global issues.

For the last three decades, ASEAN has attained crucial progress with many achievements. ASEAN has become the 3rd biggest market in Asia and the 7th largest in the world. Its trade value ranked 4th after China, Germany and the United States.
