The National Assemblies of Cambodia and Vietnam have agreed to boost the implementation of their agreements already signed to be more effective, and study the possibility to expand their existing cooperation to be more responsive to the current developments.
The agreement was made by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA) and H.E. Vuong Dinh Hue, Vietnamese NA Chairman, in their bilateral talks in Hanoi, Vietnam yesterday afternoon.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the ties of friendship and cooperation in all sectors between both countries, at the time they are celebrating the 55th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
Samdech Heng Samrin requested the Vietnamese side to continue to help train Cambodian NA’s human resources, and to promote the sharing and exchange of experience in technology and agriculture sectors to boost food production in the Mekong, and turn the area into a regional and global food security barn which will also contribute to humanitarian activities.
The Cambodian NA president once again thanked the Vietnamese side for its grant assistance to construct a new administrative building of Cambodia’s NA which will be completed in 2024.
Taking the opportunity, Samdech Heng Samrin invited his Vietnamese counterpart to pay an official visit to Cambodia at his convenient time, and to attend physical meeting with ASEAN leaders to be held on Nov. 10, 2022, and the 43th General Assembly of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) to be hosted by Cambodia from Nov. 20-25, 2022.
The Vietnamese NA president accepted the invitation to visit Cambodia when the Kingdom hosts the 43rd AIPA General Assembly, and reiterated Vietnam’s support for Cambodia as the rotating Chair of ASEAN and AIPA this year.
H.E. Vuong Dinh Hue requested the two NAs to enhance both nations’ trade exchange and people-to-people relation to the next level.
A high-level delegation of the Cambodian NA led by Samdech Heng Samrin arrived in Hanoi on Sept. 12 for a three-day official and friendly visit. Following their arrival, they paid a visit to Viettel, Vietnam-based telecommunication company, during which Samdech Heng Samrin spoke highly of the presence of the company, known as Metfone in Cambodia, which not only provides telecommunication services, but also contributes to job opportunities and economic benefits of the Cambodian people and the company itself.
