Cambodia is developing the National Logistics Master Plan under the support of World Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT)'s news release, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of MPWT received here last week a delegation from the World Bank Identification Mission in support of the National Logistics Master Plan led by Mr. Lan Van Nguyen, Senior Economist and Task Team Leader.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the World Bank's joint support with JICA on the development of Cambodia's National Logistics Master Plan, it pointed out.

H.E. Sun Chanthol thanked the World Bank for their assistance in developing the ToR (Terms of Reference) for the National Logistics Council and the National Logistics Steering Committee of the MPWT.

H.E. Senior Minister recommended that the World Bank and JICA work in tandem with each other so that responsibilities are clearly divided to avoid duplication.

For his part, Mr. Lan Van Nguyen noted that the World Bank had met with the JICA Mission Team and together they have initially identified four areas that the World Bank can contribute to. These include (1) Trade diagnostics by comparing neighbouring countries, (2) regulatory frameworks for logistics services, (3) logistics cost analysis compared to neighbouring countries, (4) comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation Systems for the Logistics Master Plan.
