Cambodia, Vietnam Foster Better Customs Cooperation

Cambodia and Vietnam have fostered better bilateral cooperation in customs, according to local media report.

The results followed recent visit of Cambodian delegation led by Director General of Customs and Excise H.E. Kun Nhim to Vietnam to meet H.E. Nguyen Van Can, Director-General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

As described by the source, the two counterparts agreed to draft customs cooperative memorandum of understanding, to coordinate joint crackdown of smuggled products, and to practice single stop inspection along the international border gate between the two countries.

Investments and tourists between the two neighbours, moreover, will be updated of latest information and development of relevant customs facilities.

Cambodia and Vietnam will also introduce mechanisms to mutually share information and statistics about transit cargos and support each other at international arenas, such as the World Trade Organisation, Greater Mekong sub-region, and the Asia-Europe platform.

H.E. Kun Nhim's delegation also visited Cat Lai port of Vietnam that Cambodia will be using for some imports from the third country.

The Cambodian delegation's trip to Vietnam lasted from Mar. 19 to 21.
