Cambodia, UK Discuss Various Topics of Common Interests

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn and visiting The Rt Hon Amanda Milling MP, Minister of State for Asia at the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, have discussed various topic of common interests, ranging from the fight against COVID-19 to Myanmar issue and human rights protection.

“Based on our dynamic bilateral discussion this morning, Cambodia and the UK share many interests and visions for development. We touched on the fight against the pandemic, embracing the opportunities to build back better, the Myanmar issue, and human rights protection, among others,” H.E. Prak Sokhonn wrote in a Facebook post after the meeting with The Rt Hon Amanda Milling MP at the ministry yesterday.

“I took this opportunity to thank the government and the people of the UK for their generosity extended to Cambodia through various kinds of support, particularly as evident by vaccine donation. ASEAN is eager to work even more closely with the U.K. as it has become ASEAN's 11th Dialogue Partner last year,” he stressed.

H.E. Ms. Amanda Milling MP, through her twitter, expressed satisfaction with the conversation with H.E. Prak Sokhonn, saying that as a new dialogue partner, the UK was committed to working closely with Cambodia as the 2022 Chair of ASEAN to address the region’s biggest challenges, boost trade and offer UK expertise in building back better.
