Cambodia, U.S. Discuss Transport and Trade Cooperation

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia have discussed about transport infrastructure and trade cooperation. 

The discussion was held here on June 1 between H.E. Ms. Koy Sodany, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and Mr. Moses An, Economic/Commercial Officer of the U.S. Embassy.

The meeting touched on trade opportunities for American companies to invest in the ministry’s various projects at present and in the future and on possible technical assistance through East-West Mekong Connectivity programme of the U.S. Department of Transport.  

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Koy Sodany briefed her guests about already-completed, ongoing and future infrastructure projects including water transport development project, road transport, railway transport, Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, wastewater treatment plants and so on.

For his part, Mr. Moses An mentioned some sectors of interest that the U.S. can contribute more such as climate resilience, practice-based planning, governance, road safety, gender/social inclusivity/equity, and multi-way connectivity.  

H.E. Ms. Koy Sodany reaffirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia to discuss in detail about the cooperation with the U.S. Department of Transport.
