Cambodia To Send Some 1,000 Migrant Labourers to Japan’s Ehime Prefecture Annually

Cambodia is planning to send about 1,000 migrant workers and trainees to Ehime prefecture of Japan a year, with the expect that the number would increase in coming years.

Speaking here yesterday after the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding with H.E. Takihiro Nakamura, Governor of Ehime Prefecture, H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, said Cambodia ranks sixth among the 15 countries that send trainees to work and study in Japan.

According to H.E. Minister, a total of 6,177 Cambodian workers, of them 3,572 are women, have been dispatched to Japan since 2007.

Cambodia has sent workers to six countries and region: Japan, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
