Cambodia to Receive Australia-donated COVID-19 Vaccines This Weekend

Cambodia is going to receive about 2.3 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, a donation of Australia, this weekend.

The vaccines will arrive in Cambodia in the evening of Dec. 26 and 28, pointed out Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in a special voice message today.

According to the Premier, up to now, more than 14 million Cambodians or nearly 89 percent of the total population of 16 million have been inoculated against the COVID-19 pandemic, without counting the Cambodians already vaccinated in Thailand, South Korea, Japan, etc.

But, he noted, the booster dose administration process is slow as only some 3 million people have received the third doses, even though the country has enough vaccines for the booster doses of 12 more million people when we got more vaccines from our friendly countries and with more purchases before the vaccine is produced in Cambodia.

The Prime Minister also mentioned about the booster dose campaign for the young people aged from 12 to under 18 years old, which will begin in January 2022.
