Cambodia will host the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival (ASEMfest) 2021, one of the 13th Asia-Europe Summit’s side events, on Nov. 22-26, 2021, said a senior official of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.
The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has already organised an internal meeting led by the Secretary of State H.E. Ms. Pen Mony Makara late last month to monitor the progress of the preparation for the organisation of the ASEMfest.
H.E. Kim Pinun, the ministry’s Under Secretary of state, updated that that most member countries have confirmed their participation.
They are the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Japan, Russia, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Spain, and so on.
The ministry expects more confirmation, and will convene a meeting with the Asia-Europe Foundation on Sep. 10 to finalise the participants’ list, he said.
The ASEMfest, he added, will take place before the 13th Asia-Europe Summit, and it will be concluded on the last day of the summit.
This international cultural event will be organised mainly with the use of online platforms with the main activities such as performing arts, and the screening of feature films and documentaries, except the exhibition which would be held in hybrid format at the National Museum of Cambodia.
ASEMfest is organised to promote basic understanding of the views and values of the member countries to enhance cooperation and development between the two continents.
