Cambodia Supports Morocco’s Request to Become Observer Country of AIPA

Cambodia has supported Morocco's request to be an observer country at the General Assembly of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

The request was made by H.E. Habib El Malki, President of the Moroccan House of Representatives, while holding a bilateral talk yesterday with Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of Cambodia's National Assembly, on the sidelines of the 40th General Assembly of AIPA, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Morocco is attending the 40th General Assembly of AIPA as a guest of Thai National Assembly, the current Chair of AIPA General Assembly.

Samdech Heng Samrin accepted the request and informed the Moroccan side to further consult legal procedures with AIPA, adding that partnership expansion is a principle of this regional parliamentary forum.

He invited H.E. Habib El Malki to attend the 11th Meeting of Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP-11) to be hosted in Cambodia in 2020.

In the bilateral session, both sides also discussed the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy, relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Morocco.
