Cambodia Sees Rise of Foreign Tourists in 2018

Some 6.2 million international tourists visited Cambodia in 2018, up 10.7 percent compared to the previous year � according to an official report from Ministry of Tourism.

China topped the country's tourism market, with 2 million Chinese tourists visiting the Kingdom, up 67 percent � followed by Vietnam and Laos, ranked second and third, with 800,128 and 426,180 visitors, respectively.

By regions, the top ten countries with most visitors to Cambodia include Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia from ASEAN; China, Republic of Korea, and Japan from East Asia; United Kingdom and France from Europe; and the United States from America.

About 4 million foreign tourists flew to Cambodia, suggesting a year-on-year growth of about 23 percent, while the rest came to the country via land and waterway.

Geographically, Phnom Penh and its surrounding areas attracted 3.6 million international tourists, while the cultural province of Siem Reap welcomed 2.5 million throughout the year.

Remaining most visited sites are coastal and eco-tourism sites in Cambodia.

As shared by Minister of Tourism H.E. Thong Khon, Cambodia earned around US$4.3 billion as revenues in 2018 from tourism, while US$3.6 billion was recorded in 2017.
