Cambodia has been working hard to expand the market for its potential products, including Kampot Pepper.
During his visit in Geneva, Switzerland, on Mar. 10, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, held a discussion meeting with representatives of the Association of Producers of La Maison du GruyAre and visited the cheese production chain of Le GruyAre, which has gained the Controlled Designation of Origin status, in order to draw good experience in developing the One Village One Product so as to create jobs, attract tourists and reduce poverty and migration.
On the occasion, H.E. Minister persuaded the association to use Kampot Pepper as an ingredient in its new Cheese production.
In reply, La Maison du GruyAre pledged to take into consideration the request and to pay a visit to Kampot pepper farm in order to learn about the pepper's history, geography and characteristics.
Some 60 tons of Kampot pepper was exported in the first nine months of 2017. The major markets for this GI (Geographical Indication) product are the EU, the U.S. and Japan.
