Cambodia Seeks More Assistance from China for another Road Construction

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has sought more China's financial assistance for the construction of another road in the western part of the country.

Addressing to the inauguration ceremony for the official use of the reconstruction of National Road No. 6 from Thnal Keng in Kampong Cham province to Angkrong in Siem Reap province held in Kampong Thom province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia has asked China to support another road construction project worth about US$200 million.

I've requested the Chinese Friend to provide more assistance for the construction of an economic strategic belt road from Thma Da in Pursat province to Koh Kong province, then Samlot district in Battambang province with an estimated cost of approximately US$200 million, said the Cambodian Premier.

The reconstruction of the road portion from Thnal Keng to Ang Krong with a total length of 248.53 kilometres cost some US$255 million, of which US$248.8 million is the Preferential Buyer's Credit Loan from the Chinese government and the rest is the Royal Government of Cambodia's budget.

Until now, for the infrastructure construction projects funded by China, 23 road projects of 2,301 kilometres worth US$1,300 million and seven bridges of 6,824 metres worth US$216 million have been completed, while six road projects of 600 kilometres of US$490 million and a bridge project (Stung Trang-Kroch Chmar bridge) are under construction.

For 2018, China also supported two projects � the improvement of National Road No. 3 and the construction of the third capital city belt road of 187 kilometres worth some US$483 million in total.
