Cambodia, Russia to Boost Tourism and Investment Cooperation

Cambodia and Russia have pledged to boost tourism promotion and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The pledge was made in a meeting between H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and H.E. Anatoly Borovik, Russian Ambassador to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh on Tuesday.

H.E. Thong Khon recalled the diplomat on the Government of Russia’s contribution, especially in building peace in the Kingdom.

The minister underlined Cambodia’s efforts in securing high rate of COVID-19 vaccination, which is a key to restore socio-economic activities, including tourism.

Cambodia is preparing to welcome COVID-19 vaccinated foreign tourists including Russian tourists to a set of priority locations such as Sihanoukville and Koh Rong of Preah Sihanouk province, and Dara Sakor of Koh Kong province from Nov. 31, 2021, and Siem Reap province on January 2022 onward, he added.

H.E. Anatoly Borovik spoke highly of the good cooperation and relations in all sectors between the two countries.

The diplomat also appreciated the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strategies and plans on tourism restoration and pledged to encourage more Russian tourists to visit the country.
