Cambodia, Russia Boost Cooperation on Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy

Cambodian and Russian relevant delegates met in Moscow, Russia yesterday to discuss and review the achievements in their cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Environment's news release.

The Cambodian delegation was headed by H.E. Tekreth Samrach, Secretary of State at the Office of the Council of Ministers and Vice Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development, while the Russian side was led by Mr. Nikolay Spassky, Deputy Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.

In the meeting, both sides spoke highly of the achievements in carrying out the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of the Use of Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Purposes between the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Government of the Russian Federation.

The two sides also discussed the acceleration of the establishment of a Nuclear Energy Information Centre at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, the Kingdom's request for education and training, and the draft inter-governmental agreement on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear science and technology centre in Cambodia.
