Cambodia Rolling out Research on Coronavirus Detection Dogs

The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and Ministry of Health have worked together to conduct a research on COVID-19 detection dogs.
It is the initiative and instruction of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, said H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC.

CMAC has discussed the initiative with H.E Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health and he has assigned the University of Health Sciences to closely work with CMAC on the research, he added.

“Based on more than 22 years of experience, CMAC’s dog technician team is confident that they can train dogs in Cambodia to detect people with coronavirus. The CMAC is preparing dogs, training documents and sites and specialised team for this research work, and be ready to cooperate with medical scientists of the Ministry of Health,” H.E. Heng Ratana said.

Countries such as Germany, Finland, Australia, Russia, etc. have been using dogs to identify people who are COVID-19 positive.
