Cambodia Reconstructs Another National Road Under China’s Financial Support

Cambodia has broken ground for the reconstruction project of National Road No. 11 and a bypass road of a total length of 96.48 kilometres, linking Prey Veng province to Thbong Khmum province.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in Prey Veng this morning under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Xiong Bo.

This road infrastructure, connecting Neak Loeung junction with National Road No. 1 Prey Veng province to Thnal Totoeung junction with National Road No. 7 Thbong Khmum province, will be reconstructed using the national budget and a concessional loan from China at an estimated cost of more than US$94 million.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to China, stressing that the latter's assistance has contributed not only to developing Cambodia, but also to strengthening the Kingdom's sovereignty.

China's fund has no condition, therefore it's right to take China as a partner. [] The Royal Government of Cambodia always values highly and remembers (the Chinese assistance), he underlined.

Until now, for the infrastructure construction projects funded by China, 23 road projects of 2,301 kilometres worth US$1,300 million and seven bridges of 6,824 metres worth US$216 million have been completed, while six road projects of 600 kilometres of US$490 million and a bridge project (Stung Trang-Kroch Chmar bridge whose construction began last month) are under construction.

For 2018, China also supported two projects the improvement of National Road No. 3 and the construction of the third capital city belt road of 187 kilometres worth some US$483 million in total.
