The Spokesperson Unit of the Royal Government of Cambodia this evening issued a statement reaffirming the Kingdom's foreign policy of continuing friendly relations with other countries without discrimination.
The full statement reads as follows:
"The Royal Government Spokesperson Unit (GSU) expresses thanks to the people and the President of the People's Republic of China, H.E. Xi Jinping, for recently celebrating the birthday of Preah Karuna Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, His Majesty the King of Cambodia and Head of State.
It is a great honour for the people and for Cambodia to reaffirm its position of strong, friendly, and close cooperation with the People's Republic of China, a relationship that cannot be divided.
On this occasion, the Spokesperson Unit would also like to recall that Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as the Cambodian people as a whole, were honoured with the occasion of the celebration of Samdech's birthday arranged by Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2017 in Tokyo. Samdech Techo said during the birthday party that, 'I will never forget this moment.'
The Spokesperson Unit has the great honour to inform beloved compatriots about the foreign policy of the Kingdom of Cambodia which clearly shows that Cambodia does not view any nations as enemies, but regards them as partners so as to maintain peace, stability, and prosperity.
Cambodia has been playing a very important role in contributing to peace and engaging in dialogues in both regional and international forums to avoid challenges or disputes. Cambodia has been actively involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) spearheaded by H.E. President Xi Jinping. Cambodia, a fully independent and sovereign state, has also supported the 'free and open Indo-Pacific strategy' spearheaded by our Japanese friends.
The Royal Government Spokesperson Unit has the honour to reaffirm to our beloved compatriots that the above stated position is the foreign policy of Cambodia to continue maintain alliances with all nations without discrimination of colour or political tendency, so that Cambodia can take benefits from the economic sphere."
