Cambodia Officially Exports Fresh Longan to China

Cambodia held here on Thursday a ceremony to officially launch the export of Palin longan to China, making it the third Cambodian fresh fruit exported to China.

The ceremony took place under the presidency of H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wentian, with relevant officials and exporting firms and agricultural communities in attendance.

Seventy-four (74) longan plantations are allowed to export to China under the formal channel and eight companies are licensed to package the commodity for the export, the ministry said.

H.E. Dith Tina attributed the export of longan to China to the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries.

“It is a new achievement resulted from the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between Cambodia and China, which has contributed actively to the agricultural development in Cambodia,” he underlined. “The achievement is Cambodia’s long step forward.”

Currently, Cambodia exports two fresh fruits – banana and mango to China, the biggest market for the Kingdom’s milled rice.

H.E. Wang Wentian said that the ceremony marked Cambodia’s successful export of longan to China, which is another milestone in the agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
