Cambodia and some other ASEAN nations – Brunei, the Philippines, and Malaysia – have appreciated their military cooperation and vowed to continue fostering their collaboration for their mutual interest.

The appreciation was underlined in three separate meetings via videoconference on Dec. 7-8 between H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), and H.E. Maj. Gen. (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces; H.E. Lt. Gen. Andres C. Centino, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; and H.E. Gen. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Affendi bi Haji Buang, Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia.

On the occasion, the RCAF commander-in-chief and his Brunei, Philippine and Malaysian counterparts exchanged views on the armed forces’ contribution with the government in the fight against COVID-19.

They also shared the same stance to continue strengthening and expanding their cooperation interrupted for a certain period of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As RCAF is the 19th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces’ Meeting (ACDFM-19), H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen invited his Brunei, Philippine and Malaysian counterparts to physically participate in the meeting to be held in March 2022 in Phnom Penh.
