Cambodia, Japan Satisfied with Their Collaboration

Cambodia and Japan are satisfied with their intimate relations and cooperation, especially between their legislative bodies, both in the bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

The satisfaction was unveiled in a meeting between Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate of Cambodia and H.E. Atsushi UENO, newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to the Cambodia here in Phnom Penh on Feb. 1.

Both sides spoke highly of the elevation of both nations’ diplomatic relations from "strategic partnership" in 2013 to "comprehensive strategic partnership" in 2023, and congratulated the 70th anniversary of Cambodia-Japan diplomatic ties.

The senate president congratulated the new role of H.E. Atsushi UENO in Cambodia and was positive that through his diplomatic mission, the relations, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries will further advance.

Samdech Say Chhum supported the new Japanese ambassador's intention to visit Cambodian provinces and meet with local people to learn more about Cambodia's culture.

He also reaffirmed the Senate’s readiness to closely collaborate with H.E. Atsushi UENO to contribute to strengthening the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two nations and peoples.

For his part, H.E. Atsushi UENO lauded Cambodia's rapid development in all sectors and expressed his congratulation to the Kingdom of its successful hosting of the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits and the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly.
