Cambodia, Indonesia to Increase Tourism Cooperation

Cambodia and Indonesia have agreed to increase their cooperation to attract more tourists to the two countries as well as to the ASEAN region.

The agreement was made by H.E. Thong Khon, Cambodian Minister of Tourism and H.E. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia in their meeting in Bali, Indonesia yesterday evening, on the sidelines of the G20 Tourism Ministerial Meeting and the World Tourism Day 2022.

Under the agreement, a joint working group will be formed to implement a bilateral MoU on tourism cooperation signed at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 in Sihanoukville, Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province, while direct flights between the two ASEAN countries will be resumed and increased.

As the leading countries in implementing the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP), Cambodia and Indonesia will promote mutual experience sharing through exposure visits and workshops.

Both sides will also share good practices in community-based and natural tourism development, and coastal management and development.

Responding to H.E. Thong Khon’s invitation, H.E. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno will consider organising a visit to Cambodia during the SEA Games 2023 hosted by the Kingdom.
