Cambodia Imposes Temporary Cross-border Travel Ban with Vietnam

The Royal Government of Cambodia has decided to place a cross-border travel suspension between the Kingdom and Vietnam, in a move to prevent the import of COVID-19 cases in the country.

According to a letter signed on July 13 by H.E. Ouch Borith, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and addressed to the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Vietnam, the temporary ban will last a month starting from July 18.

The cross-border travel of skilled workers, technical experts, staffs of Vietnamese companies are subject to the ban, except patients seeking medical treatment in Vietnam, diplomats, on duty civil servants, as well as students and trainees who graduated or got special permission from the Cambodian government, the letter read.

Those who finished COVID-19 quarantine or being in quarantine in Cambodia will not be allowed to travel back to Vietnam during the designed period.

Cambodian officials are asked to cooperate with the Vietnamese side to facilitate the flow of cross-border goods transport with strict health measures placed by the two countries.
