Cambodia Hosts ASEAN Unity for Peace Cultural Festival

The ASEAN Unity for Peace Cultural Festival (ASEAN UP Cultural Festival) was held at Chaktomuk Theatre in Phnom Penh yesterday evening on the occasion of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.

H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia said that the cultural event is not only celebrating art and culture but also indicating a way forward in the New Normal that will strengthen our bonds of friendship, cultural harmony, positivity, and joy, allowing us to exchange artistic creativities and learn from each other to enrich our understanding about the similarities and diversity of our ASEAN countries.

This event was held in order to showcase the artistic and cultural diversity that celebrates the philosophy of enhancing collaboration and understanding among ASEAN Member States, she added.  

As the host of this official side-event, with immense pleasure and delight, H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona said the opening of this two-day hybrid festival offering inspiring programmes from the ASEAN Member States including performances from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand as well as from India, one of our ASEAN’s friends.

This 2022 is marked the “30th Anniversary of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations” year, she added.  

H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona also profoundly thanked the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia for its support.
