Cambodia Hosts 1st National Forum on “Youth and Clean City”

The 1st National Forum on "Youth and Clean City" was held yesterday at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, under the theme "Think, Act, Care."

"Youth and Clean City" is a new campaign to be launched by the Ministry of Tourism in 2016-2017 to promote youth tourism movement and to provide opportunity to the youth to take part in social works, environmental protection, and tourism promotion, said H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, at the forum's opening ceremony.

According to H.E. Minister, the ministry has initiated different programmes to boost the youth's participation, including Clean Cambodia, Your Vacation, Clean Resorts, Biking, Community-based Tree Planting, etc.

Youth tourism has been on a growing trend. In 2014, there were some 227 million young tourists or 20 percent of the total tourists travelled around the world, generating a total income of US$250 billion, and by 2020, the number of young tourists is expected to reach 300 million, said H.E. Thong Khon.
