Ministry of Commerce, in cooperation with GIZ and ASEAN Secretariat organised a National Consultation Workshop on Framework for CLMV Economic Development at Himawari Hotel, Phnom Penh yesterday.
The workshop was presided over by H.E. Sok Sopheak, Under Secretary of State for Commerce and attended by representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, ASEAN Secretariat, GIZ, private sector and experts of FVA (Fidelity Ventures of Asia).
According to the Ministry of Commerce's news release, speaking at the opening session, H.E. Sok Sopheak encouraged the participants to raise challenges faced by public and private institutions of CLMV and suggested solutions to strengthen cooperation and economic development among the CLMV countries and increase their export outside the region such as improvement of trade facilitation, e-commerce, use of Blockchain for trade and development, human resource strengthening, preparation of regulations related to e-commerce, CLMV infrastructural connectivity, both soft and hard, and improvement of regional and global value chains.
H.E. Under Secretary of State also requested the participants to provide more inputs for the draft Framework for CLMV Economic Development so that it can reflect the reality of Cambodia's economy.
On the occasion, there were presentations on the draft Framework for CLMV Economic Development focusing on CLMV as Quality Food Hub, Seamless Border, Tourism, and Synchronisation of CLMV Payment System.
