Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent a condolence letter to H.E. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, and Japanese people over devastating floods, killing almost 200 people and injuring many others.
I am deeply saddened after learning about the loss of many human lives due to flooding and landslides caused by torrential rain , he said in his letter dated July 10.
On behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Your Excellency and the Japanese people, especially to the bereaved families, for this great loss, the Cambodian Premier continued.
Heavy rain began late last week and the dead toll is now believed to rise to 179 and 56 people went missing. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes while 11,200 houses have no electricity and 300,000 others no clean water in a dozen prefectures.
