For the first semester of this year, Cambodia exported in total 271,537 tons of milled rice to international markets, down 5.9 percent from 288,562 tons during the same period last year.
The update was shared by the Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export Formality of the Rice Working Group in the Government-Private Sector Forum of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Some 62,623 tons, 47,809 tons, 50,683 tons, 36,239 tons, 42,865 tons and 31,318 tons of milled rice were exported in January, February, March, April, May and June, respectively, it pointed out.
Major markets for Cambodia's milled rice is the European Union purchasing 137,353 tons, some ASEAN member countries (Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and Vietnam) buying 29,375 tons and other 26 countries covering 104,809 tons, it added.
According to the same source, there are about 68 rice exporting companies in Cambodia.
In 2017, the Kingdom exported more than 635,000 tons of milled rice to foreign markets, up from around 378,000 tons in 2013.
