Cambodian Top diplomat H.E. Prak Sokhonn has provided clear explanation to ambassadors of Canada, Switzerland, Denmark and Finland, and charge d'affaires of New Zealand accredited to Cambodia with residence in Bangkok about latest developments in Cambodia.
Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Chum Sounry shared the gist from the meeting taking place yesterday afternoon at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh.
According to the spokesperson, the ambassadors and charge d'affaires expressed their concern over information pieces they received lately about Cambodia and would like to hear direct explanation from the government.
On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn reiterated Cambodia's commitment for firm compliance with multi-party democracy, respect of human rights and press freedom.
The senior minister walked through all points raised for clarification from his guests in order to assure them about positive position of Cambodia, adding that the country will ensure a free and fair July 2017 national election.
The ambassadors and charge d'affaires thanked H.E. Prak Sokhonn for the explanation and expressed their appreciation of Cambodia's rapid growth for the past years as well as the peaceful climate during the recent local election.
