Cambodia Confirms Support to APT Cooperation

Cambodia confirmed its stance under the framework of the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit for strong community building, according to Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen's official Facebook page.

Addressing to the 21st APT Summit in Singapore yesterday, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged all nations to continue to fully and effectively implement the APT Cooperation Work Plan (2018-2022), especially in the areas of connectivity between countries in ASEAN and between ASEAN and the Plus Three countries (China, Japan, Republic of Korea), of small and medium enterprises and Free Trade Area.

Cambodia urged all APT nations to pay more attention to the protection of environment and natural resources in order to build a resilient community with sustainable development and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in 2030, he added.

The Prime Minister highly valued the continued strengthening of mechanisms for effective APT cooperation. He also appreciated the cooperation in the field of health, especially the APT Leaders' Statement on Cooperation against Antimicrobial Resistance.

At this point, Samdech Techo Hun Sen drew other APT leaders' attention to the falsified and substandard medicines, which are causing serious problems for people's health and well-being. Cambodia suggests including this issue as a key topic of APT cooperation, he added.

The Cambodian Premier also shared his views on protectionism and trade war. He asked the APT countries to finalise the negotiations on Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) by 2019. Cambodia welcomes the joint research project on 10+3 cooperation for bettering supply chain which will promote trade and investment as well as regional connectivity and economic integration plan, he underlined.
