Cambodia is committed to firmly support the agendas of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as well as to take part in global efforts to upscale them.
The commitment was underlined by H.E. Hang Choun Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports in a UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) organised virtually.
Taking place from May 17 to 19, the conference aims to build the momentum for a new ESD framework for 2030 toward the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It also promotes the establishment of the educational system that supports responsible learning for all generations, sustainable society and world growth.
Introducing a new education approach during the COVID-19 crisis will bolster the resilience against challenges for the sustainable development and the role of ESD in contribution to the realisation of SDGs, added H.E. Hang Chuon Naron.
Organised by UNESCO in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and German Commission for UNESCO, the conference also discussed the joint implementation of ESD in mitigating climate change impact and boosting biodiversity and green and circular economics, and technology advancement.
