The Cambodian Ministry of the Environment and the Chinese Academy of Sciences reached in Phnom Penh early this week a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Environmental Cooperation.
H.E. Say Samal, Minister of the Environment, and Mr. Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, were the signatories.
According to the Ministry of the Environment, the MoU focuses on the rehabilitation of drainage system and the installation of a treatment tank to prevent water pollution.
Under the MoU, the Chinese side will help train Cambodian officials on water pollution and quality management.
H.E. Say Samal spoke highly of the MoU, stressing that this is a starting point for cooperation in the field of environment between Cambodia and China.
