Cambodia, China Reflect Joint Fight Against COVID-19

Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on Dec. 21 co-organised a workshop in Phnom Penh to review the bilateral cooperation against COVID-19 and discuss way forward.

Themed “Cambodia-China’s Shared Destiny in Fighting COVID-19″, the gathering was made possible through the collaboration among the Cambodia-China Friendship Radio, Cambodian Senate, China Foundation for Peace and Development, Cambodian Association of Research on Cambodia-China Progress.

Over 100 senior officials and representatives from the Cambodian Senate and Ministry of Health, the PRC Embassy in Cambodia, Chinese military and traditional medical teams, and Cambodian medical team joined the discussion.

H.E. Tep Ngorn, the Second Vice President of Cambodian Senate expressed his deep appreciation of PRC’s support for Cambodia’s response and containment of COVID-19, especially with medical equipment and in vaccinating Cambodians against the deadly disease.

With positive outlook for Cambodia-China cooperation going forward, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wentian updated the workshop on the China’s latest revision of its epidemic prevention and control policy to adapt to the emerging context.

H.E. Ms. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Health, applauded the flexibility of PRC’s leadership in the flight against COVID-19, stressing that the revision centred on the best welfare of Chinese people.

Moving forward, Cambodia and China will deepen the cooperation in the fight against COVID-19 including technical support and human resource development.
