Cambodia Calls for More Cooperation between ASEAN and U.S.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen called for more cooperation between ASEAN and the U.S., at the 6th ASEAN-U.S. Summit held in Singapore on Thursday.

Both sides still have more potential areas to cooperate such as innovation, digital economy, trade, tourism and IT, pointed out Samdech Techo Hun Sen in his speech on the occasion.

The Cambodian Premier also expressed his support to his Lao counterpart who in an ASEAN joint communique encouraged the U.S to continue its support to the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 and Initiative for ASEAN Integration.

Cambodia strongly expects that the U.S. will pay high attention to increasing the trade volume between both sides, and welcomes the elaboration of the Trade and Investment Framework Arrangement (TIFA) and Expanded Economic Engagement (E3) Initiatives Work Plan, he added.

Prime Minister Hun Sen appealed for the U.S.' continued support to human resource building by providing more scholarships to ASEAN youths, particularly those from Cambodia to pursue their higher education.
