Cambodia, Bangladesh to Strengthen Trade Cooperation

Cambodia and Bangladesh have discussed ways to deepen their cooperation on trade, especially rice export deal.

In a bilateral meeting with Bangladeshi Minister of Food H.E. Sadhan Chandra Majumder in Phnom Penh on Nov. 22, H.E. Pan Sorasak said that the Bangladesh delegation’s visit to Cambodia will further strengthen the trade relations and cooperation between both nations.

The Cambodian commerce minister expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable increase of the two-way trade volume, reaching US$22 million in the first nine months of 2022, a year-on-year increase of 56 percent.

The two sides underlined the potential of bilateral cooperation and the importance of enhancing trade and economic relations and were committed to continue the cooperation for further development in the sectors of trade, economic, and investment.

The two sides agreed to boost the cooperation on economy and trade and to work together toward the establishment of Cambodia-Bangladesh trade agreement, organisation of the first Cambodia-Bangladesh trade council, and the review of the memorandum of understanding on Cambodia-Bangladesh rice trade.
