Cambodia Attends G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Indonesia

Cambodia has attended the G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Borobudur, Indonesia.

The meeting was kick-started on Sept. 13 with the participation of culture ministers and representatives from ASEAN and G20 member countries, European Union, UNESCO and dialogue partners.

H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, as the rotating Chair of ASEAN for Culture and Fine Arts attended the meeting themed “Culture for Sustainable Living”.

It discussed the key role of culture as part of sustainable living and the establishment of Global Arts and Culture Recovery Fund.

It also touched on the intervention of support policies, cultural recovery after COVID-19, as well as issues of climate change and war affecting culture conservation and development.

Addressing the function, H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona shared the fruitful outcomes of the international conference on cultural property protection focusing on the prevention of illicit trafficking of cultural properties hosted recently by Cambodia.

The minister expressed her support for all actions to support culture including culture mainstreaming in sustainable development.

She also supported the initiative to establish the global arts and culture recovery fund that will help countries to promote culture as part of economic growth.
