Cambodia Applauds Progress in Cooperation of North and South Korea

Cambodia has applauded on-going positive progress of the relationship between the South and North Korea.

Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, expressed the appreciation when receiving newly appointed South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Oh Nak-young at the Office of the Council of Ministers here in Phnom Penh on Wednesday afternoon.

According to H.E. Oh Nak-young, improved relationship between the south and north brothers followed their milestone high-level meeting during 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang of South Korea earlier and recent bilateral talk between senior South Korean delegation and North Korean leader H.E. Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang.

The ambassador thanked Cambodia for the support and warm hospitality and looked forward to further boosting Cambodia-South Korea relationship during his mission.

Different mainstream political ideologies are justified as the key reason behind the division of Korea, between North and South Korea in 1945 after the World War II.

For decades, intention to reunite or at least to promote good cooperation between the two happened along with their rises and falls of tension, yet the continuing move of their positive relationship was considered as the best ever.

Cambodia fully supports such a progress toward peaceful Korean peninsula, beneficial not only to the two countries, but also to the rest of the world.
