Cambodia Applauds Czech’s Debt Settlement Approach and Intended Assistance

AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodia applauds debt settlement approach and continued willingness of the Czech Republic's assistance for the Kingdom.

Secretary of State for Economy and Finance H.E. Vongsey Vissoth expressed the appreciation when receiving Vice President of Senate of Czech Republic H.E. Ivo Barek at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh on Dec. 13.

According to the secretary of state, the Czech government has decided to convert Cambodia's debt to Czech into development grants for Cambodia � a milestone in the two countries' cooperation.

H.E. Ivo Barek considered it as a role model resolution for particular past debts that can be followed by other countries.

The Vice President of Czech Senate also shared the country's intention to support Cambodia in mine and UXO clearance as well as other areas, including education, sanitation, health and environment.

Both sides concluded with mutual optimism for enhanced partnership benefiting the two peoples and countries.
