Calmette, one of Phnom Penh's leading and best known hospital, has been equipped with the world's latest and sophisticated equipment in order to further promote its health care and life-saving services.
Minister of Health H.E. Mam Bunheng lately presided over an official opening of the equipment worth almost US$1 million.
Key items of the equipment include a computed tomography (CT) scan that uses x-rays to make detailed pictures of parts of body and the structures inside the body, hospital pneumatic tube systems that improves turnaround times by reducing human error and product loss associated with material delivery.
Another major facility is a device to scan lung functioning in order to figure out cancer cells in the whole body of human being.
According to Director General of Calmette Hospital Dr. Chheang Ra, the new facilities worth US$830,000 will improve the quality and effectiveness of the hospital's services.
H.E. Mam Bunheng appreciated continuing improvement of Calmette Hospital to catch up with the world's latest development and to respond well to the demand for public health care not only in Phnom Penh, but also across Cambodia.
In line with the progress, the health minister encouraged the hospital to enhance professional skills and expertise of its human resources.
