The draft law on minimum wage was endorsed by the cabinet ministers in their weekly meeting here yesterday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
The draft law of six chapters and 30 articles is aimed to enhance the living condition, create job opportunities and increase the productivity of workers and employees, pointed out a press release of the Press and Quick Reaction Unit of the Office of the Council of Ministers.
Another main purpose of the draft law is to promote better and attractive investment and business environment in Cambodia, it added.
Meanwhile, the cabinet ministers also approved the draft law on amendment to the article 87, heading of point C of chapter 4's 3rd section, and articles 89, 90, 91, 94, 110, 120, 122 of the Labour Law promulgated by a royal decree dated Mar. 13, 1997; and the draft law on amendment to the articles 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, heading of chapter 4, and articles 16, 19, 26, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 65, 66, 67, 68 of the Law on Standards of Cambodia promulgated by a royal decree dated June 24, 2007.
In addition, two energy projects � a 700-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Preah Sihanouk province and a 60-megawatt solar power plant in Kampong Speu province � worth in total more than US$1.34 billion were also approved on the occasion.
