The tree fell just west of Easton Iron and Metal at 1100 Bushkill Drive about 5 a.m.
Easton Public Works Director David Hopkins said city workers would remove the tree once Metropolitan Edison workers addressed downed power lines at the site.
City workers were putting pieces of the tree in a wood chipper around 1 p.m.
The road was reopened by 2 p.m.
Met-Ed spokesman Scott Surgeoner said the company had no wires down on Bushkill Drive and no customers without power in that area. He said it’s possible a passing Met-Ed employee looked at the wire to say it wasn’t the company’s, but there is no record of a call.
