Top-class service from cafe staff
ON APRIL 9, I walked into Han’s Cafe in Holland Drive for lunch, only to find that I had forgotten my purse.
I mentally berated myself as, being four months pregnant, going back to my flat would have meant a hot, slow and long walk.
However, cashier Angel Lee immediately offered to pay for my meal, and told me to come back when I had money the next day.
The staff even told me to sit, and they came to serve me instead.
I am grateful for the thoughtful gesture, initiative and top-class service.
I commend Ms Lee and the staff at Han’s in Holland Drive.

Thumbs up for SingPost worker
I THANK Mr A. Johnson of SingPost’s dutiable parcel section for his exceptional service.
I had two parcels originating from New Zealand detained by customs due to the absence of invoices.
I contacted customer service four times, but received only robotic service, without anyone listening to my concerns.
Finally, I spoke to Mr Johnson on April 21.
He patiently explained to me how I could get my items, and even went the extra mile to e-mail me the goods and services tax forms so I did not have to wait for them to arrive by snail mail.
I give Mr Johnson the thumbs up for his good work.
However, SingPost certainly needs to overhaul its customer service department and improve service standards.

Bag recovered by thoughtful hawker
RECENTLY, at Eunos hawker centre, my friend and I patronised a stall selling prawn noodles, char kway teow and hokkien mee.
Unfortunately, after our meal, I left my bag behind and did not realise this until later, when we were in Tiong Bahru.
We went back to the hawker centre, though we did not put too much hope on retrieving the bag, as a few hours had passed.
To our surprise, the hawker at the stall we had patronised earlier was there with the bag.
He had been waiting for us to come back to claim it.
I am grateful to him.
He has proven that there are kind souls around.

Impressed by ICA’s efficiency
LAST month, I filed for renewal of my permanent resident status on the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority’s (ICA) online portal.
Within an hour, an officer sent me an e-mail message asking for some clarification.
Once I submitted the information, I was astonished to find that the renewal process was successfully completed well within the expected timeline.
The entire experience was a delight.
The website was informative and the officers were responsive.
Such efficiency is commendable, considering that several thousand people use ICA’s services daily.
