Environmentalists and bird lovers from eight countries have taken part in the first ever Cambodian Bird Fair held at Wat Phnom Historical Site in Phnom Penh on Mar. 17-18.
Organised by the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with China's Jingshan administration, Cun Cao Xin Rural Environmental Protection Association, China Wildlife Conservation Association, ASEAN Bird Fair Committee, BirdLife International, Cambodia Bird Guide Association and Sam Veasna Centre, the event was themed The Potential of Ecotourism and Birds of Cambodia.
Pictures of 30 different species of rare birds, including those from China, were displayed on the occasion.
Bird drawing and photo contests were also part of the programme.
Cambodia Bird Fair was aimed to raise awareness about wildlife conservation, get people together to start taking care of environment, and promote the beauty of natural heritage of Cambodia to the public as well as boost ecotourism.
