Australia Supports Equitable and Inclusive Access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Cambodia

The Government of Australia has been supporting WaterAid Cambodia through Australia-NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) to increase access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in Cambodia.

H.E. Dr. Ouk Rabun, Cambodian Minister of Rural Development, H.E. Pablo Kang, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, Hon. Karlene Maywald, WaterAid Australia Board Chair, and Ms. Rosie Wheen, WaterAid Australia CEO, discussed here yesterday Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 – clean water and sanitation for all.

The projects are for three years with total funding of AUD 525,000, the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh pointed out.

Through the ANCP, it added, WaterAid has increased access to water for more than 17,400 people and improved sanitation and hygiene for 69,600 people living in rural communities.

According to the embassy, WaterAid has also supported improved sanitation and hygiene in healthcare facilities that have benefited more than 97,000 patients and staff in nine healthcare centres.

Through ANCP, the Australian Government is funding 25 Australian NGOs to deliver 55 projects in Phnom Penh and across 22 provinces of Cambodia in 2022.
